Welcome Home Freckles

For the first time in four years, a daughter returns to Daegu, South Korea, determined to end the domestic war that plagued her childhood. They have been hurting each other for years as they never learned to live harmoniously. Despite their efforts to find peace, the scars of the past remain unresolved. Through conversations with parents, she uncovers a pattern of domestic violence deeply ingrained in her family's history. At last, she realizes that only she can break this cycle.
Completed in March, 2025.
Welcome Home Freckles had its world premiere at SXSW 2025 where it won the Special Jury Award. The film also won the 2025 Grierson award for best student documentary and received an Honorable Mention at AFI fest. Additionally, the film won the Jury Award at the Austin American Film Festival 2025. The film will also screen at Camerimage, London Short Film Festival, and PÖFF, in addition to a few other festivals.
Welcome Home Freckles has also been nominated for the 2026 BAFTA awards in the “Best British Short Film” cateogry.
