Welcome Home Freckles

For the first time in four years, a daughter returns to Daegu, South Korea, determined to end the domestic war that plagued her childhood. They have been hurting each other for years as they never learned to live harmoniously. Despite their efforts to find peace, the scars of the past remain unresolved. Through conversations with parents, she uncovers a pattern of domestic violence deeply ingrained in her family's history. At last, she realizes that only she can break this cycle.

Completed in March, 2025.

Welcome Home Freckles had its world premiere at SXSW 2025 where it won the Special Jury Award.

Additionally, the film was included in the Cannes 2025 SFC and was longlisted for the 2025 Grierson Awards. It also won the Jury Award at the Austin American Film Festival 2025.

The film also screened at Nyon’s Visions du Réel festival in April and will also screen at deadCenter, DMZ, DC/DOX, Indie Street, and Otherfield.
